Our friend, colleague, and mentor Jordan Levy passed away peacefully last night just short of his 80th birthday. He was a legend to many, yet he lived his life simply and with humility. There are tens of thousands of people who were employed, touched, helped, or inspired by Jordan. His professional life played out like a three-act epic production. He was a successful entrepreneur, held several public offices while never losing an election, and he hosted an award-winning radio talk show for decades. Despite all of Jordan’s success, he never lost touch with his humble roots on Worcester’s Vernon Hill. Jordan was comfortable with anyone from any walk of life and made them feel comfortable with him. He was honest in all his endeavors, both personal and professional. He spent countless hours helping to improve the lives of regular people through his efforts in public office and as a business owner. His careers brought him into the presence of Presidents and around the world for meetings with diplomats, heads of state and royalty. Though frequently in the public eye, Jordan was a very private man. He shunned the glare of the limelight for the warm glow of being with his family. He would say the greatest accomplishment of his life was his daughters and grandchildren who he adored along with the love of his life Maxine who predeceased Jordan in 2010. His legacy and impact will live on but his presence will always be missed.
