Congressman Says Nutrition Is Critical For Doctors

Worcester Congressman Jim McGovern is co-sponsoring a bipartisan resolution calling on medical schools and residency programs to provide nutrition education.

Conditions linked to diet include obesity, type-2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer, which are leading causes of death and disability.

Nevertheless, McGovern notes that physicians-in-training receive little or no education on the relationship between diet and health.

The issue has been of critical importance for the Congressman for some time.
