Governor Baker Re-Files Measure To Regulate Impaired Driving

Governor Charlie Baker is once again proposing a bill that seeks to address impaired driving in the legal marijuana era.

Baker's proposal would equalize alcohol and marijuana for law enforcement purposes.

The bill failed in 2019 because of a lack of an accurate test to determine if a driver is impaired by marijuana.

It is unclear whether there are any reliable, court accepted tests out there for marijuana right now.

The bill is named for Trooper Thomas Clardy, who died in 2016 when a drugged driver slammed into his cruiser while making a traffic stop in Charlton.
