Senator Cruz Proposal On Immigration Draws Fire

Senator Ted Cruz is calling for the creation of immigration ports of entry in New England.

The Texas Republican says people trying to enter the country through the southern border in Texas should be redirected to the New England ports for processing.

Cruz calls for immigration ports of entry in 12 locations, including Newport, Cambridge, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

Cruz says he chose these locations so rich Democrats can see a daily flood of immigrants like in Texas.

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee telling reporters that he has not thought much about the Senator's idea but does say he has "no polite comment" right now on it.

The Governor's of Massachusetts and Connecticut have not commented.
