Nurses Strike Continues With No End In Sight

There appears to be little if any hope left to end the more than seven month old strike by nurses at St Vincent Hospital. Hospital President Carolyn Jackson issued an open letter to the union urging them to accept the hospital’s last and best offer.

The nurses had rejected that offer a couple of weeks ago.

And, it is unclear whether there have been any negotiations since then.

One of the last sticking points has been over whether striking nurses could return to their old jobs.

The hospital has balked at that --saying that it would not turn its back on replacement nurses who have filled the need.
