With more than 90 percent of all trade traveling by sea, and 95 percent of the world’s international phone and internet traffic carried through fiber optic cables lying on the ocean floor, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity and security of the United States is directly linked to a strong and ready Navy. Gunner’s Mate Seaman Tyler Laranjo of Scituate, RI is an important part of that mission. Laranjo is assigned to Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG 106). In the picture above, Laranjo is scanning the horizon during the ship's transit. The USS Stockdale is conducting routine operations underway in the U.S. Third Fleet area of operations.
