Remember Mass Trooper George Hanna on the 38th anniversary of his murder.

Massachusetts State Trooper George L. Hanna

Massachusetts State Trooper George Hanna was shot and killed on Saturday, February 26, 1983 while searching three subjects during a traffic stop. Trooper Hanna had pulled the vehicle over for a routine traffic violation near the intersection of routes 12 and 20 in Auburn, MA. He was not aware that the three men were preparing to hold up a store. Trooper Hanna found a weapon while searching the first suspect. Another suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Trooper Hanna seven times and drove away as he lay dying. All three subjects were arrested and sentenced to life in prison. They were denied parole in 1990. Trooper Hanna left behind a wife and three young children. Click HERE to write a tribute for Trooper Hanna on the Officer Down Memorial Page.
