Fall River Police Officer Thomas Giunta died on this day in 1994 after being shot three times. Officer Giunta was going door to door distributing parking permits for the city's annual Holy Ghost Feast. His killer avoided justice for four years until he was deemed mentally competent to stand trial. Officer Giunta was a Vietnam War Veteran and had served with the Fall River Police Department for 21 years. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and two sons.
