Rutland Police Detective John Songy is one of the thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders in the US who contracted COVID-19 due to requirements of their job. Detective Songy died on May 29, 2020 after a lengthy and brave battle with the deadly disease. The 48 year old leaves behind a wife, daughter, and two step children.
