'Paving for Pizza' is American ingenuity at its best

America can be pretty innovative when it feels like it, without any government help at all. Even when it comes to improving infrastructure.

I know – progressively-speaking, it seems utterly impossible to address America's infrastructure problem outside of government. Yet, that is exactly what Domino's Pizza is attempting.

This week Domino's announced they will give grants to towns across America to fix potholes in the roads. The initiative is called, wait for it… "Paving for Pizza."

Why would Domino's choose this particular brand of community service? Good old-fashioned business. They're in the pizza-delivery business and potholes are not ideal for pizzas bouncing along in the shotgun seat of the delivery guy's Ford Pinto.

According to Domino's:

Potholes… can cause irreversible damage to your pizza during the drive home... We can't stand by and let your cheese slide to one side, your toppings get un-topped, or your boxes get flipped. So, we're helping to pave in towns across the country to save your good pizza from these bad roads.

Their website even allows you to select the severity of pothole, then watch video from the inside of a pizza box to see exactly what it does to your pizza. Spoiler alert – it's not good.

Domino's has also been testing those self-driving pizza delivery cars, so you can bet potholes are not very good for all that technology either.

Domino's may have just figured out a model for fixing roads and saving us taxpayers boatloads of money.

You can go online and nominate your town to be selected by Domino's to fix the potholes in your community. Domino's cares about America's crumbling roads, but they care even more about pizza integrity.

Surely, if there's one thing that could unite the Left and Right in this country, it's pizza integrity.

This is kind of genius. Domino's may be on to something here. President Trump has said he wants $1.5 trillion to spend on infrastructure. So far, Congress has only allocated $21 billion. But Domino's may have just figured out a model for fixing roads and saving us taxpayers boatloads of money.

Better roads and pizza integrity? Only in America.
