Massachusetts is reporting 113 new deaths from coronavirus, which is the largest single day jump since the pandemic began. Governor Charlie Baker says 957 people have now died in Massachusetts from the virus. The total number of positive tests is now over 28 thousand, with more than 128 thousand people having been tested. There are now close to 30 testing sites operating in the state, which makes Massachusetts one of the nation's largest testers.
The Governor toured a 94 bed mobile hospital that the National Guard put up in Joint Base Cape Cod. The Governor says that he does not know how many people will need the facility but he is satisfied that they will get the best care. The facility is being run by Cape Cod Healthcare.
 Governor Charlie Baker says it was the correct move for Massachusetts to join a coalition of states on the coronavirus recovery. Baker says neighboring states are major commerce, travel and trading partners. He says reopening the regional economy must be done safely and in a way that ensures public confidence. Also, he says there is a risk of the virus staging a rebound if restrictions are relaxed too soon. Whatever is being done will be with the state's best interests at heart.
The Governor continues to maintain that the state will have a rough couple of weeks. There are some models which have moved the peak by a few days but the Governor says that whenever it happens they will be ready.
