Governor Issues Stay At Home Order

Governor Baker is closing non-essential business in the state effective at noon time tomorrow. That will include barbershops and spas. It does not include grocery stores, pharmacies or gas stations. The Governor urged the use of e-Commerce whenever possible. Governor Baker said that under the federal guidelines package stores will not be affected by the closing.

Restaurants that are offering takeout or delivery service will be allowed to continue operation.

The Governor urged people to stay indoors as much as they can in order to shutdown the spread of the virus. The Governor says that construction projects will continue throughout the state but they will have to adhere to specific guidelines.

The Governor stressed that he is not ordering people to stay in-doors. Baker says that if people do go out for a walk or whatever that they use common sense and adhere to social distancing.

Asked whether he would make the school year longer --the Governor told reporters that they are still dealing with that issue.

He would not say whether he would extend the tax filing season to July 15th as the federal government already has and as has nearby Connecticut.
