Massachusetts State Police Trooper Thomas L. Clardy died from injuries he sustained when a driver under the influence smashed into his parked cruiser in the breakdown lane of the Mass Pike in Charlton. Trooper Clardy was 44 years old and a 10 year veteran of the state police. He was also a veteran of both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army.
