I was a seasoned investigative reporter when I first met Anthony Scott. He had just been hired as the Chief of Police in Holyoke, MA and I knew right away that Chief Scott was going to be good for the news and bad for the criminals. He proved me right. In his tenure as Chief, he took on the gangs and the conventional wisdom on fighting crime. He went on a crusade for judicial reform when he found out that judges were giving low or no bail to suspects his officers risked their lives to arrest. He garnered a lot of attention and the story went national. During his tenure as Chief, crime went down and liberal outrage went up. Chief Scott is enjoying a well deserved retirement now in South Carolina, but he's still not afraid to speak his mind.
