Off duty Boston Cop killed today in 1994 after stopping an erratic driver.

On this day in 1994, Boston Police Officer Berisford Wayne Anderson was shot and killed while off duty. He had just left work and had changed into street clothes. He also removed his ballistic vest. He stopped a person who was speeding and driving down a one way street. When Officer Anderson identified himself as a police officer, the driver pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest. The killer had outstanding warrants an was arrested a short time later by another off duty Boston Police officer who was returning from the funeral of Paxton Police Chief Robert Mortell.
