(NEWSER) – As ceasefires go, Egypt's proposal to halt Israeli-Hamas hostilities didn't appear to actually cease that much fire: Though Israel accepted the plan, which took tenuous hold at 2am Eastern, Hamas rejected it and Israel officially stuck a fork in it this morning after six hours of what it said were about 50 unilateral rocket attacks from Gaza militants. Israel had vowed to hit Hamas hard if it failed to abide by the deal, which Hamas had dismissed as "not worth the ink that it was written with," and an Israeli military spokesman tells the AP that the military has "resumed operational activities." CNN reports that its crew has seen at least five airstrikes since Israel ended the truce.
